Centregold’s security rules – part3 : Liberty Reserve

The main security issue concerning Liberty Reserve accounts is due to fact that “accounts are email based”. So once hackers obtain the control of your email account, then they can easily steal the funds stored in your related LR account too.

Many people have been victims of that in the past, their LR account balance having been completely wiped off -  something that we do not like to happen to you. That’s why we have written the following guides.

A Liberty Reserve account only requires a valid email address, to which it’s attached. It’s protected by a security system mainly based on password and pins. In case the account owner can’t remember the password, or a pin, or even the account number, he or she can use the “Account reset wizard” page available on the Liberty Reserve website.

After that, a new password, login pin and master pin will be sent automatically by the system to the email address used to create the LR account. You can then realize that anyone having the control of the email account can easily open the LR account it is attached to.

So, once a hacker have the account number, the login pin, the password and the master pin,   he can get an IP sentinel code, then confirm the login and may transfer the funds stored in that LR account to another account, or directly make a purchase with the balance.

That’s the problem. Still worse, once a digital currency transfer has been completed, it can’t be reversed. There’s no such thing as a charge-back at Liberty Reserve, AFAIK.

Now, you understand how the security of your LR account is rather weak and needs you to do something; see the following post and this one too :  http://centregold.info/LR-account-protection
